On 17 - 18 July the annual Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) 2010 took place at RAF Fairford, Gloucestershire, United Kingdom. The RIAT is the world largest airshow and has over 50 nations participating the airshow through out the years of the RIAT. This year I was fortunate enough to visit RAF Fairford as aircrew / groundcrew due to the participation of four Dutch F-16's. Two from Leeuwarden airbase and two from Volkel airbase.
Some nice visitors did found their way the RAF Fairford this year, but it was clearly visible that the economic crisis is still not fully recovered. Some of the platforms were empty were normally many aircraft could be parked for the static and flying display as in previous editions of the air tattoo. Main attraction for the air tattoo was the USAF F-22 Raptor with it's show tribute in Europe. On the static, the C-130H from the Royal Air Force of Oman was my personal favourite.
