To celebrate 100 years Turkish Air Force (TuAF), an air show was held at Izmir-Cigli air base on 4 and 5 June 2011. With a wide variaty on national and international participants the air show was well organised and visitors could enjoy both static and flying display during two briljant days with blue sky and sunshine.
I travelled to Izmir along with the RNLAF F-16 demo team who also performed during the air show. By Belgian Air Force C-130 I departed Brussel-Melsbroek on Friday morning and arrived at Izmir after a 4.5 hour flight. Highlights of the air show was offcourse the participation of the Pakistan Air Force with two F-16's (flying display) and three JF-17's (flying and static display). On Saturday the TuAF performed a mass fly-by with almost all aircraft and helicoper types in their inventory. Aerobatic display teams such as the Frecce Tricolori, Red Arrows, Wings of Storm, Team Aguilla and the Thunderbirds gave away a beautiful performance during both days. Especially for the occassion the TuAF organised a spottersday on both arrival and departure day allowing photographers to shoot the particpants clean without lines and people surrounding. As I have been busy during both days, not much photography have been conducted by myself. The images shown is a small selection of the flying display from both days.
